7 Rules about washing your face you should pursue

Contrary to the opinion that most of us have, face washing isn’t such a basic task that can be accomplished somewhat easy. There's a lot more than splash a water and pat dry. While there are so many sophisticated cleansers that won't totally destroy the skin, using the right one will boost the skin's elasticity, by giving it a lot of moisture and anti-aging benefits that an old-school splash and scrub won't.

Here is a list of 7 face washing rules that should be perceived:

Rule #1: Remove your makeup before you wash your face because there are many cleansers that can't take off the concealer or the foundation completely, especially on the eyes and nose area. Use an oil-based cream, an emollient wipe, or a cleansing oil to dissolve stubborn sunscreen and makeup.

 

Rule #2: Over-washing can lead to irritation and a lack of moisture. Therefore, always wash your face after a workout to prevent breakouts, and wash excessively oily skin twice a day. For very dry or sensitive skin, stick to cleansing once a day i.e. before going to bed.  

 

Rule #3: Extreme hot or cold water can exacerbate problems like rosacea and redness and won’t “close” the “open” pores (as such thing like “open and closed pores” doesn’t even exist!). However, mild steam can help soften hardened oil in pores, so cleanse in the shower is something that should be considered.

 

Rule #4: No matter the skin type, make sure the ingredients contained in the face cleanser doesn't contain fragrances, parabens or harsh soap, as these can be irritating, toxic and drying.

 

Rule #5: A salicylic or glycolic acid cleanser is gentler and more effective than grainy scrubs, and both offer anti-aging benefits and help prevent breakouts.

 

Rule #6: With the right cleanser, you don't need to use a tonic, as they can contain alcohol which is bad for the skin. However, if you still insist on using it, choose gentle, alcohol-free versions that can calm the skin and balance the pH levels.

 

Rule #7: A brush removes oil, dirt, and dead skin and it's less aggressive than most exfoliating cleansers or scrubs, but too much exfoliation can cause inflammation. So, basically, you can use it but use it occasionally.
