Beeswax - an amazing natural product with numerous purposes

Beeswax is an amazing natural product made from the honeycomb of the honeybee and other bees that can be used in many ways. It is made when pollen oils are mixed with honeycomb wax and turn the white wax into a yellow or brown color. Beeswax is generally available as yellow, white, or bleached. Yellow beeswax comes directly from the honeycomb, white and bleached come from yellow beeswax.

Beeswax has many skin benefits such as:

  • It is an excellent addition to cosmetic products.
  • It helps to seal moisture into the skin.
  • It protects the skin from environmental toxins and irritants.
  • It doesn’t suffocate the skin and allows the skin to breathe while still providing a protective barrier.
  • It has Vitamin A, which improves hydration to the skin and promotes cell regeneration.

Uses of Beeswax for cosmetic purposes are numerous. It can be used as:

  • Lip Balm - Mix of ½ ounce of beeswax, 1 teaspoon of raw honey, 2 ounces of cold pressed organic olive oil and 2 ounces of cold pressed organic hemp seed oil. For a little flavor, add about 20 drops of organic peppermint oil.
  • Skin Moisturizer - Lock in your skin’s natural moisture with beeswax and add the antioxidant vitamin E to help protect and repair rough, dry, or chapped skin. Mix 4 ounces of sweet organic almond oil, 1 ounce of beeswax, 2 ounces of distilled water, 10 drops of vitamin E oil and 10 drops of lavender essential oil.
  • Body Lotion – The combination of beeswax and shea butter is perfect for dry skin. It helps soothe skin, locks in moisture, and has natural anti-wrinkle properties.
  • Body Soap - Beeswax is often added to soap recipes to make the finished soap harder and last longer.
  • Foot Balm - A simple mix of beeswax, coconut oil and magnesium make a great remedy for cracked heels.
  • Hand Cream - Beeswax is a great remedy for cracked hands too. It also creates a protective barrier to help avoid future damage.
  • Body Deodorant - Beeswax is a natural protective moisturizer. It can help avoid sweat stains on clothes.
